The tip is very hard and sharp. I used this to score calligraphy parchment paper so I didn't use soil. I would only recommend this article for beginners to get used to using the pen and practice marking. Otherwise, it's better to spend a few more euros and buy a better one.

Silverpoint is a wonderful retro medium. It is very different from graphite and entirely different from charcoal. Anyone who loves to draw should try Silverpoint. This pencil is very well made and serves its purpose perfectly. Although the silver needle cannot be replaced, it lasts a very long time.
