Good lock for my MacBook Air but fairly easy to open

I bought this cable lock for college to secure my laptop to a desk. It is used almost every day and works very well. This is definitely not the most reliable, it pulls out of the USB port with a very sharp tug. However, in most situations, this will ensure the security of the laptop. The cable is pretty flimsy and can easily be cut, but I'm not overly concerned about that. In terms of use, this lock is very easy to lock and unlock, much easier than the Kensington lock I use on my other laptop…

Pros
  • Master key compatible
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Great concept, not well done

The concept is great but the mechanism is not very well done. You have to press the button on the end of the lock (under the key in the product image) after inserting it into the USB port to lock it and I couldn't hold the button down even though the right side stood up. Inside the lock are small metal pins for encoding keys, and one of the pins broke on the first attempt to turn the key. Even with no fault of the product, this lock will not work properly if you have a laptop hard shell as…

Trash Security Locks

It broke as soon as I tried to use it. The label does not indicate which side is up. If you get it wrong, it will come out easily. The key mechanism turns. A complete waste of money, time and effort. UPDATE: There is a flower icon showing which side is up. When I first got it and picked it up, it didn't work. Now that you've recovered from that madness, it seems to be working. Still I don't trust. If you put it the wrong way around it will come out and I'm afraid it will be annoying again. I…

Pros
  • EASY INSTALLATION: Just plug the end of the cable into a USB 3.0 port on a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with a USB Type-A port; Unlocked with key included
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

ideal for public areas

I was satisfied with the good functioning. Of course, someone could probably rip it off, but leaving your laptop in a place where someone would have to use brutal physical effort to steal it is a good solution and it will alert people to it. Let me regularly leave my laptop unattended, e.g. for a toilet break in crowded public places like conferences, cafes, libraries etc. Probably not good enough to provide protection in places where someone who can hack it has privacy, but I doubt that was…

  • There are more interesting options.

I just unpacked this lock and tried it out on my desk. I was a bit hesitant given the reviews about the lock being easy to pull out. I found out that there is a right side and a reverse side. When I inserted the lock into the USB port with the lock seam down (and the open side up) and pressed the button, the button sometimes clicked and snagged, and sometimes it didn't. But even if the button got stuck, the lock could easily be pulled out of its socket. However, with the seam up and the holes…
