Works well on my 2015 VW Golf

I have always used a butter knife to unscrew the oil drain plug but this tool works great and makes the job a lot easier. I would recommend it.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not sure

VW Oil Plug Tool - Oil Drain Plugs

I thought this tool was too short to apply manual torque to but bought it anyway. The tool works great, definitely worth getting if you want to stop ripping those plastic drain plugs with flat head screwdrivers.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • No

Works on my Porsche 991.2

Used it to change the oil in my 17 911 Carrera S and it fits perfectly on the drain plug. The plug actually has a slot for a flathead screwdriver, but it is prone to damage over time. With this tool, you will definitely extend the life of the drain plug.

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • I'll write later

Does exactly what it's supposed to do

No complaints here. Yes, it's plastic, but it does the job, and the drain plug is plastic, too. Fits perfectly in the drain plug and is easy to unscrew. This was one of the cheaper versions I found and I'm very glad I didn't waste money on a more expensive version that does the same thing.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Very expensive

Single use only

Was only able to use this tool for an oil change in my 2015 Golf. It's all plastic and the tip curls up in the drain plug without damaging my plastic drain plug (I keep an extra plastic drain plug just in case, but mine isn't damaged). Too bad the CTA can't make this tool a little stronger as it costs more than the rest and I thought I'd buy a quality tech product.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Drive socket required
