I've been using these filters for quite some time with no problems but recently I had a problem. After installing new filters, the car would not start. After 3 hours of bleeding and troubleshooting I found that the gasket at the bottom of the external filter was defective. Half of the gasket was not attached to the filter housing. I ended up having to buy another external filter to make it work. These are great filters for the money but just check the seals before installing.

330 miles since installation and still no problems. I find that I couldn't get the external o-ring on the water separator to work. I did without it because the separator filter is sealed even thicker than at the factory. I think if the factory seals work fine without the outer shell then this probably does too.
