Works as expected, good for spares

I am using this Cummins RV 5500 generator. It was an exact factory replacement. Generator maintenance states that the first oil/filter change should be after 20 hours. Then every 100 hours (or so).

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Update Availability

fake. Do not buy.

This was a fake, not a genuine onan filter. The upper pattern is different, the logo is a sticker, not printed directly on the product, there is no O-ring. The generator didn't work. Lost a liter of oil and a half a day. Do not buy from this seller.

A little concerned good for parts

a little Leary. The internal design of this filter is very different from the one that was removed from my new generator when I first changed the oil. The part number/size/shape and packaging are the same but the internal parts look a lot cheaper than it is not a true OEM.

Pros
  • price
Cons
  • flimsy

Fits perfectly. of course

Had first oil change on a new motorhome alternator. Onan made the task more difficult, and the factory-installed filter was much more difficult than doing it by hand. But after removing the lower case I was able to get enough power with a belt wrench and an extension. Returning the standard filter was easy. and this time it's not overloaded.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Great price

Easy installation if you have a 65/67mm filter wrench

Do yourself a favor and get a 65/67mm filter wrench adapter. Overall this is a great filter that is easy to install. At the time of purchase it was cheaper than the local RV store. Make sure you put some oil in the filter before installing it so you can prime it so your generator doesn't run dry while it's pumping the new filter.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Discontinued

Great when you find the right key

Original unit perfectly matched to the engine. Here's my problem: I've had trouble finding a key for a filter that both fits the filter and works within the tight confines of the in-line filter. A key purchased at a local auto parts store got stuck in the filter and could not be removed when the filter was in place. I couldn't find any information on the packaging about which wrench size would fit. There is no wrench or information on the site. I took a chance and ordered a wrench online that…

Pros
  • Fun
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Buy Onan because size matters

This is a filter for my Onan 5500 generator. What can I say, this is a stock oil filter. But the Onan OEM filter is about 1/2 inch longer than the NAPA replacement I used last year. And that 1/2 inch makes a world of difference when it comes to removal since the alternator has an air seal that fits around the filter very close to the bottom of the oil filter. The Onan filter is long enough for the filter to protrude from under the air seal, allowing the filter to be removed without putting too…

  • Great for a small house
