I THINK THIS LOCK WILL SLOW DOWN THE THIEF BUT TIME WILL TELL

I DON'T BELIEVE THAT A BUYER OF THIS LOCK CAN REALLY OBJECTIVELY JUDGE HOW EFFECTIVE IT WILL BE. THIS WILL LIKELY STORE THE CRAZY AMATEUR THIEF BUT ANYONE FASTER, DETERMINED AND EQUIPPED WITH THE REQUIRED TOOLS COULD POSSIBLY BEAT HIM IN IMMEDIATE TIME. BUT ANY THEFT DETECTION IS BETTER THAN NOTHING. I RATE THREE STARS FOR THIS CASTLE. WHY? BECAUSE I HAVE NO REAL WAY TO DETERMINE ITS EFFICIENCY. I THINK ONLY TIME WILL TELL.

  • Satisfied so far

don't let thieves run free! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Great lock, just bought a closed trailer and needed something strong and heavy to manipulate and this little one works. The key turns the screw inwards and opens the lock, this is genius because it keeps the lock picker out of the game, also I've read reviews that the key is difficult to remove, no it's not that easy, you just have to find the gap by pulling the key when you turn it and eventually it will come out. I love the fact that it leaves no gaps and doesn't leave room for those tryingโ€ฆ

Thin keys are waiting to be broken.

I am assuming this is a genuine Curt lock as it was marked as such on the packaging. It's on Revain so there's always a chance it's a Chinese fake/scam. It didn't help me. A screw lock with very thin keys was an expected mistake. The keys were very flimsy and I have no doubt they would break if the lock resisted. With this being exposed to the elements and road debris, it's almost inevitable that at some point the lock will become stuck and resist unlocking. Don't risk getting stuck in the lock

  • Great design

  • Expandable

It collapsed, collapsed completely.

I've just unwrapped the casters that hold the lock to the plastic hanger that the shop uses to hang this on the counter. I opened and closed it several times. I noticed that there is an o-ring on the back of the key's threaded rod in the lock. Struggling with rattles or dirt? I like the lock but the o-ring is rolled up and removed from the threads. Then the core of the castle fell out. All the lock springs and lock pins (tongues) fell to the ground. REALLY? I'll put it back together and use itโ€ฆ

Interesting lock to pick

This lock is easy to pick but hard to pick. Easy because anyone with tools could open it with ease, but difficult because I had to open it 11 times when it was fully closed as the screw cap mechanism twisted a little each time. This allows me to open much more complex locks in less time. That being said, I don't think this lock leaves much room for security in the much more likely scenario of someone just picking it open or cutting it off. I checked the shackle with a file, it's not hardenedโ€ฆ

Not Fort Knox, but easy to use

I had to leave my Harley and trailer in the hotel lot when traveling. The trailer lock proved to be the weakest link in my attempts to secure it at night. The hitch lock was easy to use and in my opinion more secure than just a padlock as the standard hole diameter only allows a small padlock to be used. The only issue I had was that when locked there was still enough pin open for a hacksaw blade or similar to have direct access to it and as mentioned above the size of the pin is quite smallโ€ฆ

  • Confident

  • Good mostly, but...

Good idea but cheap locking mechanism

I bought this lock in August and it was easy to use the first few times while the trailer was stored for cleaning and prep. But the first time we went camping I put a lock on the hitch and when we tried to leave three days later the key wouldn't go in the lock. I've tried repeatedly, my wife has tried, a roommate with the exact same lock has tried and neither of us could get the key past either of the tumblers. I sprayed it with WD-40 which was the first thing the locksmith I called askedโ€ฆ
