Stable but needs work. Its worth it!

Damn that's a chore with hand tools. Nut #1 on the clutch needs a lot of torque! Turn it sideways and use the torque wrench and jack to lift the key. Tip #1: Next, put the brackets where you think they should be and you'll find it's wrong and you'll have to lift the entire system. Don't do this in a parking lot in the middle of summer! you will cook Once you have calibrated this system for your truck and trailer you will be amazed. I've never had a WDR that felt so good that it didn't require…

Hefty Beast good for weight distribution hitches

I think I was lucky the box arrived safe and sound. Considering he weighs almost 100 pounds, that's awesome. The device is basically very solid and well made. No hollow tubes to be seen, it's solid steel. The only exception are the L-bars that secure the spring bars. They look a bit fragile. But they haven't bowed to it yet. Part of the product description says "The TruTrack weight distribution hitch comes with a preloaded 2 5/16" hitch ball," but the description later states that the hitch…

Shipping box sucks

Shipping was my biggest complaint. The extremely poor shipping box required 2 couplers to make a full coupler and the 2nd box was also missing parts. Make a right box to send back another box. All I can say is whoever came up with this design should send it home for the price the hitch cost. Delivered whole and nothing is missing. The trunnion mounts are not standard. and ball nut access was a joke, poor alignment of top plate on hitch head, not what I expected from Kurt. Now for the things I…

Outstanding attitude and performance

Great hitch. Make sure you have the correct ball socket (or box wrench) to tighten the nut, there isn't enough room for anything else. A concrete slab or very flat area to park your tractor and trailer on for height adjustment is best thought through before getting the hitch. Customization can be a little tedious, but it's worth taking the time to be sure, so give yourself plenty of time. The only real issue I had was that after assembly the safety chains did not reach the loops on the tractor…

Weight Distribution Hitch

This is a well designed and manufactured product. I pulled 6500 pounds with it. Without this hitch I found it stressful and unsafe at 55mph, with this hitch I was able to drive 75mph safely. a few extra dollars in the "up to 10,000" version. The 8k version comes without the ball, as far as I can tell the 10k version has the ball preloaded. Most people have to buy a lot of tools to tighten a 1-1/4 stem ball to 450 lb-ft. Also, the 10,000 version of this hitch has built-in wrench flats for the…
