I use it under the kitchen sink to plug in the dishwasher while the other outlet is used for garbage disposal and connected to the light switch. This device is easy to use. Just plug it in and connect the device or electronics you want to protect from surges. It's rated at 900 joules, which should be enough for most connected devices. I chose to add a power surge as the lights will dim when the AC is turned on

The specs on these Cyberpower surge protectors are about the same as the Tripp Lite spikecubes that I've favored for years. And cyberpower protections cost nearly half what Revain did in September 2019. Damage protection for connected devices is $25,000, while the Spikecube is just $5,000. BUT, be sure to register your defender on the Cyberpower website! Otherwise you cannot assert any claims for damages.

Recently, lightning struck a tree near my house and burned out several of my electronic devices. I was hoping that CyberPower's surge protector would save my $2,000 home theater projector, but unfortunately the surge protector didn't help one iota. The cost of repairing the projector is almost the same as what I originally paid, so I guess I'm unlucky. Bought two of these, one for my parents to use in the microwave and extra protection for my iMac.
