Save your money don't buy

Didn't work properly Arrow went up 100% in every cell I checked, took my friends counter for comparison, all cells were low so it was Garbage and that's it It was too late to get a refund

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

This hydrometer is good for sport

Haven't used it yet as my batteries are brand new and (so) haven't had to test them yet. But it's a hydrometer, I'm sure it will work as intended. I like this company best. Mighty max battery. Always great prices and super fast shipping.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Not bad

This tester is portable.

I use these to test batteries on a boat. I'm not getting a power outage on my docking station. So I'm testing them to see if they need a charge. Then I can take them to the garage for charging. I have three boats with two batteries each. I really need to keep the electricity running down there!

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Requires outlet

something GOOD, something BAD

As you can see in the photo, the tube in the shipping box is badly kinked. This affects the ability to aspirate liquid into the tester. This would be a FIVE star product with the hose intact. I removed the tubing, cut it and reattached it with the appropriate glue. Now it works fine.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Tube not long enough

We needed this to check the state of charge of our solar deep cycle batteries. The tube in the picture seemed longer, but it's the same as the one we already have. However, the tester works as intended - we just thought the tube was longer and would work in a deep battery.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Good quality but hit and miss

This item arrived quickly and well packaged but there can be problems. While this will likely work with most automotive batteries, I ran into an issue with a new Interstate Deep Cycle Marine battery that I wanted to test. There isn't enough liquid in each cell to take a reading, so I've had no luck testing, although this tester generally works very well when there is enough battery acid to fill the tester. There is no way to know in advance if this will work with a specific battery.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Negative gift

High quality cell tester with removable covers

This is a high quality hydrometer. A thermometer and dial to set specific gravity based on ambient temperature is a nice touch, but I suspect this feature is underused. I bought this to test single cells on scissor lift batteries after presumably charging them. This is the same type of hydrometer I used when I was training to be a mechanic in the Army and the same type I used when I was a mechanic at American Motors and Pontiac dealerships. Always reliable. I prefer it to digital models.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Expensive

Bubbles stick to the electrolyte indicator too easily, especially on the "backside" of the "arrows". This is despite the idea of keeping the block level when the electrolyte is sucked in (to avoid bubbles). Despite my attempts to be smarter than the designers' mistakes, from time to time the bubbles will push the indicator higher than it should be showing. In other cases, the bubbles will clog the indicator and it will not float at all. Or it gets stuck somewhere along the way. About 25% of the
