The gearing didn't even fit the freewheel

I bought this kit to convert my small mountain bike to single speed. I've used these kits in the past and never had a problem, but to my surprise when I installed the kit, the cog didn't even fit on the hub. Since I need the spacers anyway, I just left them on and used the Wolf Tooth Components sprocket, which works great. I give the kit 3 stars because the spacers fit me perfectly, but don't buy it unless you're ordering another gear with it.

Great fit, works best when exercising

I was a little hesitant given the price and all, but it worked and I had absolutely no problems with it! It was very easy to install - removing the cassette from the handlebar is easy if you have the right tool. The spacers (metal, aluminum?) are great (others said they were plastic, but I think the manufacturer upgraded them because mine were definitely not plastic). It fits perfectly and does exactly what it's supposed to. Looks good too. What else is there to say?

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Big and chunky

The teeth are too long to even accommodate a single speed chain

Obviously the return took too long, which is particularly annoying. Finally, the full carbon city single speed MTB is given the finishing touches and the final step is the assembly of the derailleur and chain. I understand right? Not correct. The sprocket with this kit will not fit 1/8 or 3/32 chains. The chain rises because the sprocket teeth are too long. Not sure what this sprocket is for, but its incompatibility forced me to order two chains (for testing) and a matching sprocket. Spacers…

Spacers make it easier to align the front sprocket

I had an extra spacer left after the installation was complete. Different thickness washers can be installed with the included sprocket to easily align the rear (wheel) sprocket with the front (pedal/crank) sprocket. The aluminum spacers and rear sprocket feel too light and a little flimsy. I'm sure aluminum holds up well and just "feels" brittle because my beach cruiser is a chunky steel frame. The wheel I am mounting this kit on has a 20mm wide rim (internal rim width). I recommend this…

Worked perfectly for Sport

This product is worth the money, I am converting my son Schwinn's 7 speed mountain bike to a single speed mountain bike. This single speed conversion kit is worth a look if you're looking to convert your bike. Easy to install, if you want to replace the crank assembly with a single speed, all you have to do is align the chain on the foot crank ring with this single speed sprocket on the rear wheel and add spacers to keep a cog in your chosen location , add the end cap and you are done. (Sorry…

Great conversion kit, lots of spacers.

Excellent for this price. Enough aluminum spacers to work with any setup I can think of. One reviewer said the gear didn't match their hub, and neither did my Stans wheels. The spacers and snap ring fit, but the gear is a bit small. It matches my other wheel which is a Bitex hub so I think it's just some kind of misunderstanding. Anyway, I didn't buy it for the gears, just the spacers and the detent. Definitely recommend if you have a Shimano cassette and want to use a speed. Even goes with my…

Perfect fit for Shimano Uniglide hub bodies.

This kit was installed on a Shimano Uniglide driver body in the mid 80's. All splines on the body of this style have the same width and depth. The aluminum shims and steel cog fit perfectly into the hub shell, and a variety of additional shims are included to fine-tune the chainline. I didn't use the locking ring from the kit because the Uniglide body has an external thread. Luckily the old English style bottom bracket locking ring fits this thread. I was really shocked at how well everything…

Urban Arrow Electric Fixie Family

Bought the Urban Arrow family in January this year. A thousand miles on it Had an issue with the Enviolo hub slipping which is an adjustment issue but also found the hub to be very tight. Prototype rear wheel with 9 speed hub/cassette on middle cog (18 teeth). Worked well, chose this option as a permanent solution with a 16 tooth gearbox. We love it. The bike works great throughout the range. We were fortunate to live on level ground with no elevations, so the Enviolo Hub really wasn't…
