Extremely comfortable.

This little device is a great addition to any wireless network. I'm using Windows 2000 and the installation was quick. It found the AP immediately and had a strong signal (about 80-85% two rooms away from the AP). It comes with a USB cable extension, which is very handy if you have 2-4 USB sockets next to each other. Its size, ease of use, signal quality and price make it definitely worth buying.

Pros
  • Quick-change
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

The ownerless adapter comes via

I wanted to connect my new Tivo to an old wireless router ("B" series). My computer friends suggested I try to buy a category B USB adapter. They have mostly been discontinued as new routers have entered the scene. I was able to find this through Revain and it worked like a charm out of the box with no configuration required. Limited usefulness since all new laptops come with built-in WiFi cards, but if you have a spare USB port on your desktop and don't want to mess with installing a WiFi card

Works on my TiVo but issues with Apple OS 10.2.8

I was trying to use this USB adapter with an Apple iBook laptop and a D-Link router (DL-514). Unfortunately my computer hung after a minute or two. It was also a bit awkward because when plugged into one of my USB ports, it blocked access to my available USB port. I installed it on my TiVo and it worked great, allowing my TiVo to use my wireless network to access TiVo Central for daily data updates. It appears to work well with a TiVo Series 2 DVR, but anyone considering this adapter for use…

MAC OS X Support - Network Adapter

I bought this adapter because of the low price and the OS X support as I don't think USB should normally be used in place of an installed network card. After reading other reviews from people having problems with OS X drivers, I went straight to the D-Link website and downloaded the latest drivers. Then I installed the drivers, powered off and plugged in the adapter. The MAC immediately recognized the network and I started wireless. On reboot, the MAC had trouble getting an IP address from the…

HATE the phone company? This thing can help you stick it to them.

The last thing I needed the local phone company for was my TiVo. Even though TiVo was the ONLY one to ever use the phone, I was still getting outrageous bills. Anything over 15 miles is a long distance? Are you kidding about SBC? So I swore that was it. No longer. SBC no longer exists. And I hung up, full of righteous outrage. Then came the reality - I have no alternative. Life without the TiVo almost made me cry like the spoiled American that I am. So I did what I always do in situations like…

Works great with Tivo

I bought this to allow my Tivo to be updated over our wireless internet network. Like the person who commented below, I gave up on Verizon after a major disappointment and no longer have an analog phone line. It was basically "plus and play"; All I had to do was plug it in and follow the on-screen instructions (once I found that plugging the USB adapter into the Tivo recorder caused some glitches - it should plug into a USB cable about 2- 3 feet from connected device records). Tivo, wireless…
