These pins are not worth it- they are poorly made and seem to break easily. While the price is attractive, the pins are not durable and the frustration is not worth it.

Send it back. You can't even open them. Don't work as they won't open. My husband even oiled them and had to use a tool to open them with difficulty and then to close them you risk losing your finger.

This is the first cotter pin I have found that is strong enough not to bend under heavy loads. Yes, they're a bit difficult to open at first (not great, just takes a little effort) but that's due to their sturdy nature and pen-loop closure, which gets easier after some use. Overall, definitely recommended for heavy use.
