    False advertising and low quality

    I actually found a better hoop at Walmart. First, it's not even 8 inches! They are at least 5 inches maximum. Therefore, it is misleading advertising. Secondly, the wood looks brittle, as if it could break at any moment. Without a humid environment, this pressed wood will swell and warp. I will continue to buy hoops from Michael's and Walmart.

    Really poor quality

    I bought these because they were one of the best options for packing an 8" tire but I won't do it again. The wood is really poor quality and split. If you plan to display your embroidery in an embroidery hoop (which is very popular these days), this isn't the best option. Embroidering with this frame is difficult because you can hurt yourself on small sticking sharp pieces of wood.

    All the details are there but the wood is rough

    I don't think it's Darice Hoops but I could be wrong. They don't say "Daris". "Made in China" is written on the metal brackets. I ordered and received a set of 6 8" tires. I didn't lack equipment. The wood of the tires is quite fragile. They still work to hold the fabric but there are pieces of wood that are coming off which I don't like. I sanded down all the rough edges and it seems to me that while there were a lot of them it was too much work for the price. I'll probably buy better quality…

    Different manufacturers, different quality.

    Darice obviously has several manufacturers of wooden embroidery frames. They seem to switch suppliers often because you never know what you're going to get online or in stores. Tires made in Taiwan are of much better quality. You pay more attention to detail and the edges/surfaces are enhanced. On the other hand, tires made in China are of inferior quality. The edges of the circlet are not even and not polished, there are fragments everywhere. I have received shipments from both suppliers so…
