It's a 9, not an 8!

Advertised as an 8-tooth starter. I was willing to try. Before installation I counted 9 teeth on the sprocket (which actually matched mine from my 2002 V11 LeMans). Connected straight away and works like new! Pleasantly surprised!

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Nothing here

This starter magnet is larger than the Bosch starter.

So far so good, the starter works perfectly. I had a problem installing on a 1994 Guzzi California engine, the starter motor magnet hit the transmission neutral switch bolt. I solved the problem by removing the washer from the screw. Otherwise everything was ok and the starter works perfectly.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Negative impression

Guzzi people: This works for older big twins. Screwed it into my 77 LeMans even though the stock starter was an 8 tooth. This launcher is misadvertised and actually has 9 teeth but will hook up nicely. You will need to replace one of the neutral switch screws with a lower profile hex head screw and you will need to purchase another screw that matches the top mounting screw for the standard starter to use on the underside of this new starter. Turns the bike faster and consumes less energy. Also…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Almost everything ok

Excellent OEM specification replacement for my Moto Guzzi Breva 750

The replacement is very simple: 1. Remove the screws from the plate that holds the footpegs (blue, this is necessary so that you have enough room to remove the starter) 2. Remove the electrical connectors (the top red arrow indicates the hot wire is held in place by a 13mm nut (it appears it is), the bottom connector snaps just off)3. Remove the two bolts securing the starter to the gearbox (yellow)4. Remove the starter (you may have to use a wrench or crowbar, I peeked next to the green…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are new competitors
