My kids are always picking at their shoes. They are so rough and hard in their boots when they walk and everywhere. I felt that traditional tennis shoes like Nike wear out too quickly and for the price I felt it was NOT worth the investment. My son loves these shoes and wears them to skateboard camp with very little break. He never complained of an attack; However, he can wear them for a minute before outgrowing them. I ordered shoes in the size he normally wears but they run a bit small and narrow compared to other shoes. These shoes look really good. However, the size is wide. Judging from previous reviews, most people had to size up shoes 1-2 sizes to fit them. That wasn't the case with me. I usually wear size 6-7 shoes, but I wear a size 4.5 with DC youth or men's sizing. I ordered a size 6 based on previous reviews. They were too big, I had over an inch of space from my big toe to the top of the shoe. I have medium wide feet so I think if I had the right shoe size they would probably fit the same. I will try

****Update******* Here we are almost 4 months later and my son says they are too tight and too small. His toe won't pop out, so we don't know what his real complaint is, but he doesn't like it anymore. Around the same time we bought Etnies and Adidas from Revain. I knew DC is small so be careful. These shoes are VERY tight! Although the length was correct for a size 13 boy, they squeezed him in the widest part of the foot (between the arch and the toes). This has never been an issue with other shoes and it fits easily with his other size 13 shoes so this seems to be a direct issue with this shoe. I've compared them bottom to bottom against his other standard size 13 shoes and they're at least 1/4 inch narrower and more in the toe box. They're also very, very stiff - like there's a board
