Fiction! in Home Audio

I don't do many reviews but I want to share my experience and thoughts on these Elac Dolby Atmos speakers. I added it to my home theater system a few weeks ago and am very happy and satisfied with it. I have an Onkyo receiver, large McIntosh front and rear speakers, a JBL center speaker and a nice powered subwoofer. Sitting atop the McIntosh's front seat towers, the Elaks are the perfect spot for my 14-foot-wide room. (My usual viewing and listening position is about 15 feet from the TV and…

I don't have a flat ceiling.

As my title suggests - Unfortunately I don't have the perfect ceiling required to get the 'optimal' speaker performance from Dolby Atmos modules. But hey. I knew about it. Despite this, I decided to buy Atmos speakers. ELAC Atmos speakers sit above a pair of ELAC Debut 2.0 F6.2 speakers. My system is installed in my living room with a high ceiling. Will Atmos speakers work with a cathedral ceiling? I think they do. Do I think they work as well as if I had a perfectly flat top at the optimal…

Great vibe and clean lines

The build quality is excellent you can feel every gram of its weight. The units are big and boxy and as some reviews have pointed out, may not be to everyone's liking, but sonically they are great. The quality is evident, the case is sleek and clean, the lines are crisp and solid. In our space it makes a big difference and creates this shell that just slides over you and fills the room with a wonderful vibe of perfection. If you have unusual designs, sloping ceilings, or very high ceilings…

Floor-to-ceiling Dolby Atmos?

Dolby Atmos is a pretty good surround sound format if you can get hold of it. He practically does what he has to do - he immerses the audience in a story or a song. The perfection of the Atmos configuration - in-ceiling speakers (ceiling to floor); The next quality configuration would be an Atmos speaker placed on top of another speaker (floor to ceiling). Opinions differ on how many Atmos speakers are needed: 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. You can do with two in the front or two in the back, but 2 in the…

Good performance and value for money

Great Atmos speakers. If you have the right space, they can elevate your existing surround setup for very little money. Most modern receivers support Atmos, giving you an 'easy' way to see what an immersive sound field can be. I have an Elac UB5 for L/R, a Unifi UC5 center and some Mirage FX for the sides, plus 4 Martin Logan Dynamo subs. (I like soft bass placed to reduce room mode) all in the repurposed bedroom which is the upstairs media room. This is a tricky room as it's almost cubic (12ft
