IT WAS NOT EVEN ONE SUMMER

Like other reviewers said it should be soft metal. Good value if you don't mind putting in a new set of gears every six months.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

This one was used on the L130 - as other reviews have said it fits very well. Based on someone else's suggestion, I used a small file to ensure the leading edges were smooth. then "forced” the gear onto the shaft by tapping it with a hammer. As soon as it started it went straight up and according to the same reviewer I used the old gear when I put the new one in - and it was perfect. I didn't need a puller or anything to remove the old gear. brian

Sitting under a lawnmower really isn't something you want to do. Your design is simply flawed. Worse still, I tried to remove the part so the new John Deere part I ordered could easily snap into place. While you can hammer in the MTC parts, the JD parts just work. My…

If your gear is like mine then

This gear was an exact replacement for my old worn one. The only issues I had during the DIY repair weren't the fault of the seller or the manufacturer of that part, but I want to describe it here for anyone who thinks they can "just unscrew the nut and replace this part". ". You will need: 1. 3/4" socket (preferably 1/2" drive) with breaker2. Gear Puller - I had a puller with a connecting rod and was able to get it to work.3. PB Blast or WD-404. stand5. Small metal file 6. BFH (Big F'n Hammer)
