Mortising attachment comes with four popular mortising chisel and bit sets. 1/4-inch, 5/16-inch, 3/8-inch, and 1/2-inch set. Also includes a handy carrying case that holds everything for easy storage. Offers large 4-inch capacity under hold-downs, 2-3/4-inches from ends of hook rods to fence. Also fits drill presses with quill diameters of 66-milimeters, 50. 8-milimeters, 48-milimeters, and 38-milimeters.

Weaker than in a 66-year-old patient with hand arthrosis.

Could be a good product if it didn't break during installation. The cast iron body was completely cracked/fractured/cracked when trying to tighten it on the drill press. BTW I'm a 66 year old male with arthritis in both hands and it broke under my pressure and tightened it with no leverage other than the lever on the tensioner that is part of the mechanism. I'll admit I was a pretty strong man once, but a 1/2 to 5/8 inch piece of cast iron shouldn't break under any human effort. RETURN buttonโ€ฆ

Needs improvement Installation instructions

The image with this product shows Type 1 17-924 what is actually available and what I received is Type 2 17-924. The two main differences are the number of seals (Type 2 has 6 versus 3 for Type 1) and instructions. For Type 2, the instructions are minimal with no special setup for the drill type. I have a 12" Delta 11-990 drill press and I am at a loss with the installation with a stepped spring. It wasn't clear where the bit holder was supposed to be until I went to the Delta website andโ€ฆ

Works, but requires some setup and fiddling.

So there are a lot of hot and cold reviews. This thing has been around for a long time, and it's always been considered decent, but not great. A dedicated stemmer is always better, but it gets the job done. The main drill is a collar that attaches to the drill press. Nothing special and it works. The fence is a bit awkward to assemble, but it works. The processing of the screws could have been better in every respect. The stop screw for the chisel is not very good, but it works again. I thinkโ€ฆ
