Description of πŸ“ Derwent Academy Mediumweight Sketch Paper Pad - 50 Sheets, 18" x 12" (54974)

Quality sketch pad is the perfect choice for aspiring artists and hobbyists. Medium weight 45 lb. paper is great for sketching with a variety of dry mediums. White, acid-free pages keep artwork looking its best and won’t yellow or degrade over time. Topbound sheets easily flip back when it’s time to start a new sketch. Pad contains 50 sheets. Each sheet measure 18" x 12".

Derwent appreciates again!

If this company was made in the USA I would buy their shares! Because it is a watercolor face set, it is easier to blend the face paints with it. It's not easy for a novice colorist like me, but I'm trying! Sometimes I use waterless pens because it looks just right, but fear overwhelms me. Or I used media that isn't fully watercolored. They go well together. Seriously guys, I haven't tried any of their products that I didn't like!

False advertising!

I only gave this set one star because when I received this pencil set it was supposed to be available in 12 different skin tones: carmine, white, terracotta, natural umber, sand, ocher yellow, umber burnt pink, black, fuchsia, cream and brown. Well the set I received had 12 pens but 2 of each color: cream, hot pink, pink, terracotta, carmine and sand. If I knew there were only 6 tones, I wouldn't waste money or time. So be careful, you may not get 12 different tones as advertised.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors are here

good set to start with

I was looking for a good set of pens that would render skin tones, mostly I found they didn't match the colors I was looking for or the set was missing a few shades which I consider necessary for ethnic portraits. I can't say they have all the skin tones I've been looking for, but most do. A Few Other Colors I just went to my local art store and picked up a few to fill in the gaps and highlight the colors I already have. I think this is a great starter kit for people starting out with skin tone

Pros
  • Sturdy
Cons
  • Damaged
