Lovely soft colors - perfect for painting fur and feathers

I've only used Derwent ink sticks, blocks and watercolor pencils so I bought them when I found these lovely pencils in grey, neutral and and shades of brown saw. I bought these pens for a series of drawings of small native wildlife including squirrels, doves and raccoons. I think they will do great. The colors are mainly gray and brown tones, in subtle and beautiful soft tones. The color names "blue" and "green" are actually designations for different shades of gray. The light tones look very…

I love these pens! They are rich and creamy. guide slides over paper; easy to layer and mix. If you have carpal tunnel or arthritis these pins are for you. A complete set of 24 parts harmonizes with each other. The color palette is well chosen. You can choose any three colors with your eyes closed and the colors you choose will look great together. If this set were expanded I would definitely add this additional set to my current one. I didn't quite understand what they were for until one of my

Beautiful colors and the best white pencil I've ever found!

This has to be one of my new favorite colored pencils. I've been drawing with colored pencils for over 30 years, I even have a few printed Berol/prismacolor colored pencils from the 1980's. I use many different brands from Caran D'Ache to Schpirerr Colors & Castle Art for inferior quality pencils. I have several Derwent crayons and when I saw the muted tones of these crayons I had to try them and fell in love instantly! Firstly, it's a typical Derwent pencil with a thick lead and a nice round…

Creamy, muted colors for drawing in a handy wooden pencil shape

I bought this set for a drawing class I was taking. It was nice to experiment with these pencils, but I'm not sure I'll be using them often and they were quite expensive. They are less waxy than regular colored pencils and less chalky than pastel/chalk pencils, so you could say they fall somewhere in between the two types. I was disappointed with the quality of the white drawing pencil. I wanted the white area to have good contrast with the black area next to it; White just didn't stand out…

    wonderful pencils for drawing fur

I recently bought these pencils and love them. I've used them on both pastel paper and bristol card and they worked great on both. White and black really are the best in this line. The black here is much darker than my black Prismacolor pencil. They are much softer than Prismacolor pencils. Imagine the combination of Prismacolor Premier pencils and oil pastels. I love how fuzzy they blend together. However, they are not for everyone. My Prismacolor holds the point better. It would be rubbish…

    Great crayons!

Years ago I was introduced to Derwent Drawing Pencils through a promotion and received a 6 piece set through an art dealer. As a colored pencil artist, I was soon blown away by the quality, pigment and feel of these pencils. I liked them so much that I recently upgraded to a full set of 24 pens and have found Revain to be fantastic value for money. The colors in this set are subtle, beautiful shades that I have not been able to find in other popular pencil sets. These pencils really are the…
