I love Derwent products but I've had problems with Procolour Pencils

Most pencils are perfect and work like a dream but some had loose tips. When you start using them, you will feel them wobble and make a creaking noise. Also, there was green or brown pigment/waste in the salmon colored pencil lead. These bits are not sharpened. After sharpening to a quarter-point pencil, these unmixed pigments/impurities remain and leave greenish-brown streaks on the paper with use.

Derewent > Prismacolor

I can't say enough about these pens, I've been a HUGE fan of Prismacolor pens for 13 years, I came across some reviews so I bought a set of 24 pencils. And I immediately went to buy this set of 72 after a draw. They're smooth, the sticks are strong (they don't break as easily as prisms) but they blend like butter and the color is so rich, I love it. I cannot praise these pens highly enough. If you're on the fence, JUST MAKE IT, BUY THEM. 12/10 Will definitely buy again when I get the most out…

Scratchy to the touch and difficult to apply smoothly

I've just finished swatching this set and I have to say I'm disappointed. For the price and description, I was expecting a much better experience with pencils. I found them to have a "scratchy" feel and some of the lighter colors were very difficult to apply smoothly as they left small scratches on the paper when I tried to use them, even with light pressure. I am very disappointed with this set, especially considering the price range. I may have received a defective set, but I wouldn't buy…

My new favorite among quality colored pencils 😍

Agree with everything Derwent says about these pens. I own or have used over a dozen premium artists' colored pencil sets. I put Derwent Procolour 72 at the top of my list of best pens for everyday use. On smooth Bristol paper, they lay down lightly and smoothly, but not all at once, allowing the user to adjust the application, mix shades, combine colors, and erase as needed. The colors are bright and clean. They can be perfectly sharpened with my hand sharpener. I wish the set had 120 instead…

Pros
  • Not just good for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Not bad

-1 for durability in pencils

As a crayon fanatic, I was excited to try these crayons and they did not disappoint. The color choices are very balanced to my taste, although perhaps the green could have been left out for a deeper red like Alizarin Crimson. In application they are similar to Luminance or Polychromos, smooth and creamy. Not sure how many coats they can take, but so far I've applied 5 to a test pattern on cheap paper with great results. I would give them 5* but only about half have above average lightfastness…

My favorite drawing pencil

These pencils are a mixture of part wax and part oil. You are wonderful. You get the best of both worlds. Easy waxing and excellent oiling results. Pencils don't need to be sharpened often because they retain their sharpness, allowing you to work with detail. These pens give slightly bright colors. I'm a fan of unscented mineral spirits and blender sticks that go well with it. Your pencil work will look like an oil painting. These pencils are in a league of their own. However, if I had to tell…

One of the best colored pencils I've ever used.

I have tried and used various brands of colored pencils including Prismacolor, Faber Castells and Caran d'Ache. I find Procolor better than anything I've tried. At least for me. I hired 72 and they came from Revain Global. Arrival took less than a week. And the pencils were great. The color palette is great. Nice range of colors and it gives you what you need. The pencils are easy to sharpen and the leads feel solid. The Procolour feels solid enough for detail and control, but it glides and…
