Pure, vibrant watersoluble ink pencils that combine the intensity of pen and ink with the versatility of line and wash. Use them to create strong vivid tones then wash over with water for a translucent ink-like effect. Once dry, this color wash is permanent and can be worked again using other media. Conforms to ASTM D4236. Includes 12 pencils per tin in assorted colors.

Good pencils but no white in the box

These are great pencils, you could call them watercolor pencils but they are actually pencil shaped ink, very light intense colors that get lighter and smoother when wet. I deducted a star because what I needed most was a white pen, which appeared to be on a tin lid but wasn't in there. I sent this set back and ordered a set of 24. I have loved her so far!

Very Disappointed

All you really need to know is that they smudge, although their advantage is that they don't smudge once they dry. After three different tests, letting it dry for an hour, blow drying it and letting it dry overnight, the colors smudged every time I brushed them with a damp brush. I will not be returning them as they can still be used for other watercolor applications although I bought them for their advertised ability to remain intact once dry. These pens are expensive and don't work properly…

I heard about these Derwent Intense pens in a quilting magazine. I was very excited to include some hand painted patterns in my quilts. After reading some negative reviews on Revain about color fading, I decided to just order a small box of 12 and give them a try. I was wondering if some of the reviewers use synthetic fabrics, which is not recommended. I photographed three test patterns. I used high thread count cotton which I also use to transfer photos.
