Vibration and unbalance

I ordered a pair of these wire brushes for my 8 inch Dewalt sander. I thought hey I bought a Dewalt grinder that I might as well put on Dewalt wire wheels. Not correct. I mounted both wheels and they didn't work. You could spin the wheels by hand and see them wobble from side to side. Apparently they weren't glued properly at the factory, causing the wheels to be out of round and causing severe vibration at full speed. I've tried turning the wheels 1/4 turn at a time to get them to go straight,

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Great balance but so damn wide

In my search I found two plain 8" spoked Dewalt wheels. It is one and one is described as "wide". hate to see really far. I mean the width of the wires on the outer edge. I needed a narrower wheel to clear smaller sections and this is just too wide. As other reviewers noted, the core section that slides on the shaft is also wider than most other spoked wheels and I had to make adjustments to cope with that, but that was acceptable to me. The balanced wire wheel out of the box I've ever put on…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not automatic

High quality wire wheel.

I have been using this type of spoked wheel in my body shop for many years. In my opinion they are essential, a great way to clean small parts of paint, rust and caulking to name a few. Today most cases, covers etc are made of aluminum (and sometimes plastic) and these wheels are too abrasive for that. I believe they make the wheel out of thinner wire but still be careful with the aluminum as they will gouge it out easily. Don't even think about using it on plastic parts. I've also learned…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Crumpled
