    Affordable and efficient

I was installing a hose bib in a new location and had to drill through an 11" block and adobe. Wand in about 5 minutes, much easier than I expected. The drill greedily ate the concrete, but slowed noticeably on the mud brick. After the hole I needed there was virtually no wear. I don't need a 1" hole in the masonry very often, but this bit will still be ready next time.

    Pros
    • One year trial
    Cons
    • Available in white only

new hybrid water heater. The 3/4" PVC was a little bigger than this one, so I used a drill to drill the hole and widen the hole a bit. All the time spent, probably 7-8 minutes. I used a 1/2" punch to power it and it cut through like butter powder. Best purchase I have ever made instead of looking for a cheap outlet I bought the right tool at a reasonable price. I may never use it again for a while, but it's sitting in my drawer ready for my next project.

    Pros
    • Stable test results
    Cons
    • Could have gone for a newer model

Cuts through concrete like a hot knife through a fatback

Amazing what the right concrete drill can do! It ate about 10 inches of masonry/concrete in about 2 minutes on my standard impact drill. I used my trusty old Hitachi DV18DL impact drill (it lasts 8-9 years at the moment) with this nasty bit and punched through this concrete wall. I used it to install the outer sleeve. The total cost of the project was only $90. It would cost a plumber over $300 to make some cuts, crimp some fittings, and crawl underground. Actually, I don't mind playing aroundโ€ฆ

    Pros
    • Great for a small home
    Cons
    • A dodgy purchase for the elderly
