Efficient Conversion Solution: DEWALT DWV9140 2-1/4-Inch OD Adapter Review

I'm not sure what this hose adapter would be used for but definitely not to connect a DeWalt sander to a standard vacuum hose. I was expecting to connect in my first image, but this item does not connect to any of the devices in my image. This item connects to the same end of the DeWalt DWV9000 universal connector as the grinder (see my second picture). The other end of this item is the same diameter as my 2 1/4" vacuum hose. So it doesn't work for me either.

Many dissatisfied reviewers seem to be purchasing this item for uses outside of its intended use. It is designed as an adapter to connect the 2-1/4" dust collection fitting on the tool to the smaller Dewalt brand dust extraction hoses. As mentioned, this doesn't look like the picture here or on the Dewalt website. The item in the photo clearly does not exist. The tapered end is 2 1/16" long and ends before reaching a large taper on most common applications. The product you have purchased does not match this misleading image. I bought this to attach to my Dewalt DWE6423K grinder on my 5 gallon Craftsman vacuum with 2-1/4" hose. He doesn't even come close. the hose and smooth 1-5/8" fitting on the other end does nothing.
