I bought this mat for a house in front of a sliding glass door. We have two dogs, a toddler 6 months old and a cat. The rug looks beautiful upon receipt and is incredibly soft. I've had a lot of snags and loose yarn that I've had to trim over the past few weeks after laying it on the floor and using it outside the door. I haven't noticed any bare spots from cutting loose or tangled pieces of thread, but that may change over time.
