VERY BAD QUALITY! in home decor products

I ordered 2 of these hurricane style oil lanterns and if your looking for a decor item its great but overpriced. The first lamp was sent back upon receipt as the wick advancement mechanism did not work at all. Last night, the first time I actually had to use this item, the second didn't work either. It will not nourish the wick after the oil has soaked it, and I was left without light in my hour of need. I was trying to fix the internal feed mechanism and this unnecessary metal just fell apart.

Pros
  • High marks for hold and durability from testers
Cons
  • Available in white only

It works. Solid build, I like it.

I purchased this lantern before Hurricane Florence hit us. It is beautiful and durable, but small, which was not a minus for me. I have a V&O flashlight and the Dietz is better built compared to them. The thickness of the metal is thicker, the finish is better, and the globe is made of much thicker glass. I broke the V&O lamp cover while cleaning because the glass of this brand is thinner and I think it is fragile. Go ahead, rather spend a few euros more and buy Dietz, it's worth it. If you…

Made in China, there is no way around it.

Quite well done, does not flow, works well. The only design issue I have is that the lifting mechanism is on the weak side. The lever you push to lift the globe is easy to bend if you're not careful. The main issue I had is the unfortunate fact that it's made in China, although every other aspect of the lamp says otherwise: it's embellished with the words "Original Dietz" on the fuel tank and the brand's logo on the glass globe itself. . But if you fold the lamp underneath, you can see the…

Licks like a sieve on Home Goods

At first glance it looks like a quality product and I was happy with my purchase until I decided to actually use the lantern. I bought this one because I had bought some cheaper ones before that were decent but very cheap so this time I decided to spend a little more hoping to get a little better quality. When I first unboxed the flashlight it turned out to be better made and the adjustment knob was better. The problem was that I had it filled (only about half capacity), moved it and found this

Pros
  • Even the old man understands
Cons
  • Some little things

This is my flashlight when the power goes out, when I'm sitting outside at night relaxing with a whiskey and cigar, or when I'm staying up late (literally burning midnight oil) working on my computer. Dietz 76 emits a pleasant, stable, warm light. The light is enough for a small room or to illuminate a desk/desk. I understand that many people consider this an emergency light, but I encourage you to use it to read, write a novel, or type on a computer. Even try to dine by lantern light. It's…

The wick will NOT be fed when wet.

My lamp arrived today. I unpacked it, checked it, made sure the wick access lever worked and made sure the chimney spring worked. I then checked to see if the wick would feed up and down. Everything was checked in turn. Filled with some oil and checked for leaks, nothing found. I left it until the wick was completely saturated and lit it. It looked pretty good and I was happy for a moment, but the wick should be a little higher. So I twisted the knob and NOTHING. Eventually I managed to get him

Pros
  • Beautiful
Cons
  • Some flaws

I have had several Dietz flashlights over the years and keep coming back because they just work. I picked the Model 76 because it's the perfect size to keep in the bin I take with me when I go camping. I use 2 of these lights as a camping light solution. I've found I prefer the dim illumination of a pair of kerosene lanterns to the brightness of propane and liquid fuel lanterns. Of course, these lights can't fully illuminate the entire campsite, but they provide enough light to do what you need

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • I am writing back
