I work in heavy industry. The new equipment has fairly advanced security systems. But as with the first generation of any new technology, there are bugs that need to be worked out and fixed. I keep getting crashes due to sensor calibration issues like YAW, RDU, SI, etc. Calibration checks can be painful as all tests must be performed on a perfectly flat surface. In the real world, they are difficult to implement. But with this tool and some simple math I can easily check the sensor calibration.

This unlabeled and unnamed device looks like a fake Wixey. The manual says there is a low battery indicator but I can't find it. Wixey, the industry leader, has switched to 2032 batteries that don't leak. My last device had a battery leak that destroyed the device. This battery case reveals 3 captive screws that require a precision jeweler's screwdriver, genuine PITA, to open. Love these things I bought 4. I had a few at Harbor Freight but they took troublesome CR2032 batteries (3 for each device), AAA batteries are easy to find. Works just as well as Harbor Freight or Johnson (?) which I bought at bargain prices for over half the price. I have tested this on some high levels I have and it has an acceptable reading. Very accurate. This is not mechanical accuracy, but approximate. The display backlight turns off after 20-30 seconds if I don't move or touch the device, it could stay on a bit longer but that would be my only complaint if I had one.
