Digital Soldering Iron Station Kit Review

This station was used to assemble a GPS enabled digital clock. The temperature control is precise and the iron can reach its maximum temperature in about 15 seconds. The only thing that hasn't been great in my experience is that due to thermal expansion, the plastic cap of the iron assembly that screws the modular section of the tip onto the iron rod will loosen and need to be tightened when the plastic is hot enough for the skin to close burn. Hence 4 out of 5 stars for stability.

I've had it for a year now and the plastic on the handle is done. The solder pin sleeve is gone and can no longer hold the heating element. I've been trying to see if I could order a replacement iron/pen but can't find it on Amazon or online. It works well at temperature control and heats up quickly, but don't expect it to last too long. Also the dismantling tool fell apart about 6 months after purchase and was used very little.

This thing has given me a lot of work so I can't blame it too much. Temperature control, while accurate most of the time, is not really dependent on the tip used. Some of the included nozzles don't conduct heat well where they should, so you end up with inconsistent results. The wand itself gets very hot, so the plastic starts to degrade after a few months of use. Finally nozzles. If you need replacement tips for this thing, you're on your own.
