I bought these bulbs because of the design. They work best when they are above your head and pointing down. The "filament" of LEDs is oriented so that the light is directed toward the end of the bulb. I bought these bulbs for my mother's dining room chandelier from the 80's. They used 150W incandescent bulbs, which reduced their energy consumption by 90%.
