3rd Gen (1997) 4Runner setup with Pioneer AVH-1550NEX

I bought a Pioneer AVH-1550NEX Double Din for my 3rd Gen 4Runner and it was a very easy connection . What normally takes an hour to connect and solder the wires took 1 minute. I recommend this if you don't want to waste time with all the wires.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

That does not work. - Radio Wiring Harnesses

Only two of the three connectors actually worked or were connected. In the picture is the top connector from the car, the bottom connector is from the wiring harness I bought. It definitely doesn't look like a direct match to me. The worst thing is that I can't cut the connectors and connect the wires because all 10 wires are different colors.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • So far so good

I installed a JVC KD-RD79BT with this harness in my Tacoma. I couldn't connect the plug to the radio directly in the JVC box as it's made for a Pioneer, but there are holes on either side of the plug that are a bit too big for this radio. I was able to file off the plastic on either side of the connector and once that was done everything was perfect! The pins are all the same and now my stereo works perfectly! That saved me a lot of time!

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Plug and play - great

I'm a 64 year old office worker with no experience in electronics or auto mechanics, but I'm good at internet. I watched a few instructional videos on YouTube before ordering the part and was able to purchase one to replace the broken radio in my 1998 Toyota Camry. The wiring harness was a perfect fit for my Camry and the Pioneer radio I bought. Took 30 seconds to plug it in and make sure it worked. Another 15 minutes to screw the thing back to my car because I only had a screwdriver.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Clarity

2000-2006 Tundra 10 Minute Setup with Pioneer AVH 4200

I was a bit nervous as I had NEVER installed a stereo before but this system made it easy. I have a 2001 Toyota Tundra and after pulling out the old radio I was worried I had the wrong seat belt because everything didn't match. Then they remembered that it was necessary to remove the amplifier from the tundra and it immediately became clear that everything would be fine. Standard Toyota connectors fit snugly into the wiring harness, which then fits neatly into the radio. Another 10 minutes forโ€ฆ

Plug and Play for Cars and Automotive Electronics

I have decided to install a Pioneer AVH-220 EX in my Camry 09 and replace the stock stereo system. As the review title suggests, it was pretty much "plug and play" without having to hack the factory wiring harness and break the soldering iron. However, the caveat is that the steering wheel controls don't work and you have to buy a separate interface for the seat belt and steering wheel controls if you want them to work. I did my homework and figured I could live without the steering wheelโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Hands Free
Cons
  • Poorly Thoughtful

AutoHarnessHouse technical support was great even before you made your purchase. All my questions were answered quickly and helped me figure out which adapters to install in my 2018 WRX. Build quality is very good and without the crimping, soldering and shrinking typical of many custom adapters, allowing for a clean install. Plus, with make/model specific seat belts, everything you need is built in. In my case, the SiriusXM radio and antenna adapters are the only exception to keeping my OEMโ€ฆ

Excellent value for money in a car AV setup

Purchased for use with a Pioneer head unit to replace an older Pioneer head unit on a 1997 Toyota Landcruiser. Took 10 minutes to install. Removed the old block and wiring harness. Connect this harness to the 2 gray connectors on the dash to bypass the factory amp. Disconnected the factory amplifier plugs on the amplifier behind the glove compartment. I also hooked up a rear view camera by connecting the purple wire to the red wire coming from the camera's RCA connector. The other end of theโ€ฆ

Product eligible for project

This wiring harness for fitting the aftermarket stereo system to an older Toyota 4Runner made the job much easier and quicker than if I had gone the route of inventing it myself. I would have to study and decipher the color schemes of the Toyota wiring harnesses and how they correlate with the two sockets on the pioneer plugs. This reduced the level of difficulty, for example from passing the bar exam to the SAT. The instructions seemed to come from the assumption that the buyer would be awareโ€ฆ

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • Useless features
