About a year ago I bought a Viper 5701 alarm and needed to replace the 2 way remote. The one that came with the alarm clock was the old two-tone silver and black style (part number 7251). It's a huge improvement over the original and fixes two of my biggest issues. It works perfectly as a replacement for the original two-way answering machine and I had no trouble programming it. The first thing they did to improve the design was get rid of the easily breakable and inefficient back panel/battery
