I lost the battery cover on my old 7251v a while ago and had it replaced for only $12 plus shipping. A week later, the outer rim at the bottom of the remote broke off, leaving the door protruding slightly. The battery has lasted about a week since then so I figured it was time to replace it. The new remote control eliminates a battery compartment and doesn't disassemble as easily as the old one. The buttons are harder to press (which is a good thing considering my old one crashed and made an angry loud buzz). Its rubber and tactile sensations are pleasant - they remind me of old Nextel phones. Now take a small flat head screwdriver to pry off the front panel exposing the innards and battery holder. The instructions on the box to sync with my existing alarm system worked like a charm. Pros: The buttons are harder to press but still very responsive. Feeling. more durable and robust - the battery life far exceeds my old remote control - no battery compartment! Cons - I'm concerned that the plastic clips holding the front end will eventually break after changing the batteries a few times. - When I take it apart to change the batteries, the inside falls apart and I'm afraid it might break. Overall very happy with the purchase.
