Works, but not USB three

Works, but not USB three. Data throughput is slower because it's USP two I think. It is difficult to connect a USB device to IDE hard drives here. But it's a much smarter solution than the wired connections I'm used to. mainly because you don't have to deal with a shaky cable that can come loose. This particular one was almost as expensive as these making it a good value. It would be five stars out of five if it was USB three. Makes polling data very, very slow. That may be because I'm spoiled…

Don't buy this from computer supplies and peripherals

I have something similar at my workplace where I work in IT. I should have just bought the same one, but this one is newer so I figured it might have more success with my IDE drives. Now the connector's pins are bent and broken because we spent almost 30 minutes installing it in this ill-conceived POS. I can't get my data back until I replace the plug now because of that stupid power slider rate crap. Why do all IDE drives fit what I have at work without having to move the power supply until…

Nice addition to an external HD

At first my Mac (running High Sierra) didn't recognize the device. However, one day I plugged it directly into my computer instead of using multiple USB ports and it worked right away. Does a good job transferring files from my computer to an external hard drive. The transfer speed is a bit slow, but to be honest I transferred very large photo files. I've had it for a little over a week and use it every day. It easily accepts ATA IDE drives as well as SATA drives. No hot-swap hard drives…

My device died after about 2 hours of use. The transformer light is on, indicating power is coming to the unit from the wall outlet, but the unit's indicators are off and the drive will not spin. Before it died I connected 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives. They were easy to insert and rotate, and I was able to read/write discs in Windows 10 with no problems. I couldn't get my IDE drives to work. As mentioned, it's quite difficult to align the adjustable power connector on the bottom of the device…

Stopped reading ATA HDD, no response from manufacturer

I bought this to add games to an old HDD and install in the original XBox. If this has caught your attention, welcome fellow botanist. The first few times I plugged in a hard drive, the drive showed up in Disk Manager (Windows) but not in File Explorer. SSD drives worked without problems. The manufacturer provides troubleshooting steps for this and other potential problems. I was very happy to see it. I've followed the steps (power cycle, reinstall drivers, tried a different hard drive, etc.)…

Auto power off, it takes 20 attempts to insert a PATA drive.

Original review: If it works then everything is fine. The power button allows you to stay connected to the PC while the drives are not in use. The power and data cables are long enough to work on my desk. The transfer speed varies between 107 KB/s and 30.1 MB/s. Hard drives can be swapped safely by disabling the dock. Hard drive connection problem. You can't see into the recessed, shaded area of black plastic, so guessing after the occasional mis-guess is required. The retractable Molex power…
