Dorman 38447 Door Hinge Bushing Review

my 2005 jeep wrangler driver's door was difficult to close. I installed plastic pin inserts a few months ago and things have gotten better. I put these new pins in this week and the door works almost like new. I need to get the "trash" out of the door pocket to calm down a bit. It's an easy task! I didn't even remove the door. I used a lot of masking tape to protect the paint because I knocked out the old pins. Now the door closes perfectly! Duct tape, 4 pound hammer, 13mm box wrench and 3-in-1

These are slightly smaller in diameter than the factory Jeep door pins on my 2003 Wrangler Rubicon doors. However, these work great. Use an air hammer or you'll regret it! The pneumatic hammer makes it easy to knock them out without swinging the hammer towards the doors. For those of you wondering, the nuts on the ends of these pins are the same size as your factory door nuts! As others have said, this kit comes with two pins, two nuts and no bushings. Need a more complete description. I understand that Dorman has thousands of details and can't bother to write descriptions for all of them, but maybe it can be crowdsourced. They've gone to the trouble of sizing, manufacturing to specs, creating packaging, writing instructions on the back, and buying a UPC code, but they can't even state in the description that it's a Jeep Wrangler from 1997-2005 fits. The new ones look great and match my '98 TJ perfectly, but after a year they started to rust quite a bit. I know a zinc coating isn't permanent, but for 1 mild Colorado winter? I want to take them off and either paint them or replace them. The hinge pin and nut factory is 18 years old! I'd say you should plan on a paint job or powdercoating, but it won't bond properly to the zinc coating unless you sand it fairly thoroughly (which would be ridiculous for the price of a set of pins and nuts)…
