Poor product for exhaust and emissions

About 3 months ago I installed new valve and hose PCs. Last week my car started making loud howling noises and I found that the hose became very soft and stretchy and when a vacuum was applied the hose flattened out and restricted air flow. Only buy this product if you plan to disassemble the entire intake system every 3 months.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Expensive

Not needed. the quality is doubtful.

I bought it a long time ago, just started working today. After reading reviews about it falling apart and comparing the quality between this and a used OEM hose. I just went with OEM. The tubing used still felt stiffer and more durable. I don't want to remove that distributor for a cheap hose. Be careful, just buy an OEM for this one. However, the clip feature comes in handy for easy installation.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • There are nuances

Junk: PCV valves and breathers

Hose is useless. I replaced the PCV and hose on my 2006 Mazda 3S. I bought this hose because Dorman makes some OEM products for Ford. Less than a year later I started getting DTC 2187 which is a generic code. I found the hose was spongy and broke causing the vacuum to leak. It might not have been that bad, except that you have to remove the intake manifold to access it. Replaced it with an OEM hose. This product deserves negative stars!

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Updates

This hose failed immediately.

This hose looks good but I still had a leak after installing it. When I checked for leaks with smoke I found that this hose had a large tear as shown in my photo. I had to take the intake manifold off! I will never buy a Dorman product again. It's not worth the risk. I bought a Gates hose to replace this one and it has thicker sides and is made in Turkey instead of China. There were no problems with the Gates hose.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Poorly designed

Great for spares

I've read that some old picks were made with a reverse bend. At the time of publication what I received turned out to be correct and a good quality piece with all the necessary clips. As this requires removing the intake manifold (04 Ford Focus 2.3L Duratec) the installation is a lot trickier than you might think, the PCV and hose has to be. I ended up wrapping this hose with silicone tape (aka F4 tape). I figured the silicone strap would extend the life of this thing and prevent leaks when it…

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Ford Focus 2004 2.3l Perfect

2004 Ford Focus ZX3 with 2.3 liter engine and 225,000 miles. Perfect fit but you have to disassemble the manifold to get to it. Seems to be of good quality, expect it to last to EOL which I'm planning/expecting at 300k for this machine. Of course, with all that work, replace the PCV valve while it's in! I ended up replacing the thermostat with the manifold removed because of the easy access. I also installed a used but newer junk header as the swirl flaps on my old one are badly worn…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Good but not great

$25 part, 5 hour install in Ford Focus

It's a bit pricey for the amount of hose you get here, but the price pales in comparison to the amount of labor it takes to install it in a Ford Focus was required. You'll need to remove the intake manifold, which involves removing several front-end components, wiring and hoses, and you'll also need to lower and support the radiator as Ford engineers have poor access to tools. I daresay this would cost over $400 at retail prices. At the very least, Dorman saw fit to add an extra sleeve around…
