The threads seemed to be the same size as the old ones.

The threads appeared to be the same size as the old nut but was very tight when trying to thread it onto the spindle. Instead I used an old nut. I think the hatched part of the nut might have been indented too deeply?

But it works. - Axle

Not an exact match to the original equipment. The thread is the same as the original nut, but the hex size is larger. I don't know the actual metric socket size as I used a slightly oversized SAE socket that I had on hand. Anyone with a limited tool box needs to buy a new metric head.

does not fit 2010 Chevy Cobalt Coupe

for my application, factory spindle nut requires 30mm head; this (Dorman 05177) is the recommended replacement for my application; Chevrolet Cobalt 2.2l 2010 (LAP). Oddly, the installation requires a 36mm jack. when removing the old spindle nut, this part is clearly too large; Needless to say, the Amazon auto install guide is wrong.

Be sure to check the torque specification. for this vehicle and tighten the nut without stressing the tyre. On my 4WD, this nut preloads the front wheel bearings. You cannot tighten or loosen the bearings. The weight of the car on the bearings before the torque can push out the seals and cause the bearings to fail. While not all cars are the same, pay attention to these tips or…
