    again like new best in connections

    perfect fit. My 4WD switch is now working like new again. It's been so long since my shifter worked as lightly and smoothly as it does now, I've forgotten what it's like!

    Incorrect mounting holes

    I bought this for a 2003 F150 and also had to reuse an old mounting plate due to incorrect hole placement. I had to use a flashlight to cut off the pivot pin because it was badly rusted. I would give two stars if I could just unscrew it.

    The switch works but the bracket is not drilled properly.

    The holes to attach the bracket were drilled in the wrong place. I was able to disassemble it and use my original bracket with the new linkage, which solved my problem, but I didn't have to reuse my old parts.

    Suitable for some, but not for all.

    Good device, but no better than the original. Other reviewers noted that the mounting plate does not fit all trucks. I believe the Dorman part fits early manual transmissions, not late automatic transmissions. However, the old mounting plate can be reused.

    Good value but requires slight modification to work

    The plate that attaches to the gearbox has holes drilled in the wrong places. You have to reuse the disk from the old one. Not hard to fix, but something you should NOT do. My entry was a 1999 Ford F-150 4.6 4r70w 4x4.

    Similar to OEM

    Rated 4 stars because the Dorman part fits and performs like an OEM. However, they did not improve on the original part. It would be nice if they added a couple of zero connectors so they can be lubricated and solve a problem everyone has from the factory. Corrosion. An inexpensive rework of the part would be a plus.

    Not for 2003 Ford F150 FX4 4x4

    The pre-drilled holes used to attach this item to the transmission are offset approximately an inch and a half. I had to use the original plate. Maybe one day the doorman will find an engineer who will copy the original for a 2003 Ford F150 FX4 4x4. I do not recommend this product for the vehicle I am describing.

    Return to Smooth Operation

    I purchased this to replace a frozen switch on my 1997 F-150 4X4 pickup. The holes in the mounting plate were in a slightly different position than the original, but I was able to change the mounting plates (after cleaning and repainting the old mounting plate) and the new linkage looks identical to the original. ; unless the new one works fine. I was trying to rebuild an old block and managed to ruin 20 year old plastic shifter shaft seals. Do yourself a favor and buy this unit and replace the
