For 2004 Silverado with a switch motor on the Xfer body

The unit came quickly, worked and installed myself. The block worked immediately. Thanks very much! Please note that you can use the crescent button to move the Xfer body when this device is powered off. I didn't have to remove the drive shaft, although it is recommended. Tighten the 3 screws evenly or the device will not seat properly on the Xfer case. Also reuse the old gasket.

  • Stable results when tested

Dorman Transfer Case Motor

Bought this transfer case motor for my 2004 GMC Sierra. WHAT I BOUGHT IN 2016 IS ALREADY UNEMPLOYED, about 20-30 full shifts. Selected, BUY AGAIN, from a previous order SO I WILL BE SURE I RECEIVE THE CORRECT PART. When my mechanic tried to install a new part, he found it was the wrong part. When he tried to get it working he disassembled it so I can't return the wrong part.

Working but not in neutral.

The only problem I had, which was a huge waste of time, was that the new switch wasn't in neutral when it was shipped (transfer case was in neutral). I spent a few hours trying to figure it out before good old YouTube figured out I wasn't crazy. I could either send it back or disassemble it. So I took it apart and put it in neutral and boom! 4WD is back! I would give that 5 stars but as I've probably voided every warranty (if any) and the time it took me to do light work I won't. It works as…

This was the second encoder I bought. The first one in the box had a plastic bracket ripped off and the gear was in the wrong position. Returned without problems, the second works perfectly. My only suggestion would be to make sure that the rack on the transfer case is properly aligned as there is no room to adjust or maneuver with this encoder motor. Installation is easy and only takes about 50 minutes in total. I spoke to a GM engineer about this and this encoder motor often fails. My truck…

Failure in less than two years and no guarantee!

I bought the product and it worked well for about two years. At times it seemed to freeze, but for the most part it worked fine. In the last 6 months it has refused to switch to 4X4 Low. Finally he switched back to 4X4 Low for the first time in a long time and now he's stuck there! I had to remove the part and manually shift back to 2WD. Currently fighting with Dorman to enforce their "Limited Lifetime Warranty". When I contact Dorman directly they tell me I need to contact the trading platform

A little tip in the parts section

WARNING: DO NOT reposition the transfer case motor to match your transfer case. ONLY change the position of the transfer case to match the engine. This part is neutral, if you're like me the transfer case will be in 2WD. Some people seem to have gotten this to work, but that caused my part to not work and I had to buy it again from a local retailer for $100 to get everything working. There are no instructions for this part but the description on Amazon says the transfer case must match the…

Fixed 4WD issues. Big part. Was easy on the wallet

2006 GMC 1500hd. 225,000km. During the operation of this car I have changed the 4WD power button 4 times. Usually they solved the problem for a year, sometimes for 6 months. I read a lot of forums along the way and thought it might be a grounding issue causing all the problems. It became unbearable to let the transfer case slip into neutral at any moment, especially when you're climbing a mountain at 70 mph in Tennessee. This part was easily installed by my mechanic and all is well. Now…

Fits 2006 Silverado Maxx

Fits 2006 Silverado Maxx. On the back of the transfer case is a round label stamped in red to indicate which model of transfer case you have. I have 246. Many 1/2 ton Silverados have 246 transfer cases. Appearance and equipment are identical. You must reuse the plastic gasket from the original device as it is not included. The spacer is 1/8 inch thick plastic so I'd be surprised if you couldn't reuse yours. The front driveshaft did not have to be removed, but one of the bolts is almost flush…

An important tip for the correct alignment of the parts!

Installed on my 2005 Chevrolet Avalance Z71. Installed 2 months ago and no problems since. I suspected this part needed replacing after reading several Avalanche forums about failing 2WD/4WD systems. Already replaced the Dashboard Selector. Then in late fall I noticed that none of the 2WD/4WD options would go up at all - not even 2WD and couldn't get the truck to shift to 4 HI or 4 Low. Installs quite easily, with one caveat you should be prepared for: this item is shipped in a neutral…
