The part worked on the oil pump

The gasket seemed to be too small and kept rolling out of the groove where it was supposed to stay. It ended up staying flat long enough to put it all together, but it shouldn't have been that difficult.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Not sure

fits/does not fit well for spares

ended up going to Toyota for an o-ring as the one supplied didn't fit the contours where it belongs. but there is no problem with the seal. If I had to do it all over again I would buy two parts from Toyota and be done with it.

Pros
  • Very Good Price
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Weak but works well.

The rubber on this seal is a little flimsy and too flimsy to stay in the groove on its own. Luckily I had Ultra Black caulk, so I leveled the rail and installed the gasket. There are no leaks yet and I don't expect any problems.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Heed other warnings!

I was trying to use this gasket to repair an oil pump on my 1st gen RAV4 with 3S-FE. small. In the end it was useless. I highly recommend using Fel-Pro part 72518 instead.

Dorman Oil Pump Cover Kit 82572 for Toyota

I bought this for my sons 1996 Toyota Camry. No matter how I tried to keep the gasket in place, it wouldn't stop. At least I hope the seal is back to normal. Didn't see any leaks. I've tried stretching the oil scraper seal but to no avail. Eventually I went to the local Carquest and bought another one for a lower price and a different brand. Went as it should. maybe I just got a bad one.

It will not take long!

Very low quality. Installed correctly 15,000 miles ago, started leaking 7.5,000 miles ago, failed completely today. 2.5 liters of oil lost in less than 500 miles after checking and topping up. After removing the timing case cover I was able to start the engine and saw a leak in the top right hand corner of the oil pump cover. I removed the pump cover and found that the cover gasket and shaft seal are very hard and brittle. Should definitely not happen before 15k!

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Functionality

Quality control passed defective.

Gasket was OK but o-ring brand or manufacture failed! Big time. ASE Master Tech x 30+ years has probably replaced about 100 sets of timing belts on these Toyota engines. Fill the o-ring groove with synthetic grease, carefully insert the o-ring and gently squeeze your fingers around it and along with the pump. Never had a single leak. This o-ring looked like a ring, but it "packed" and didn't fit in its groove. Heated, rolled up, even stretched a little, all to no avail. Just as he was about to…

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Some issues
