It was a perfect fit and got the fans moving again.

If the radiator fans do not come on with the air conditioning then this is the most likely cause. The factory connector and wiring harness just melts away. This is a requirement, otherwise the cooling fans, which are not running when the air conditioning is on, put a heavy load on the compressor and quickly switch it off. This connector is located on the top center of the cooling fans and is easy to access.

This fan resistor with connector and cable solved my fan problem. The radiator fan on my 2002 Ford Focus would not come on when the A/C was not running. The car would overheat if the air conditioning wasn't on. Both the resistance and the socket were bad. The connectors were burned and not making good contact, causing the fan to not work. Great price and repairs in 20 minutes. Don't just buy one resistor alone. Buy both a resistor with a socket and a wire.

Wife's car overheated when stopped in traffic, finally chasing her down to this detail. The fans weren't working properly. I don't know how long this part was broken, when I took it off the metal cage was completely corroded and one of the terminals in the connector was literally burned out. I prayed that was the only problem with the fans as the other alternative, the cylinder head temp sensor, is very difficult to get behind the alternator. I connected the cables which was a pain because the…

Fixed an overheating problem in my 2002 Ford Focus ZTW station wagon

Focus was overheating in traffic with the A/C off. Several youtube videos showed that replacing this part fixed the problem and they were right. A simple 5 minute job to replace the resistor assembly yourself. It's easy to cut off the old damaged connector at the very end of the wire harness. The big challenge is working with the small short wires in the wire harness (Ford made them long enough to reach the resistor assembly), stripping the ends and crimping the wire connectors. They ended up…
