It s cheap. on transmission and transmission

I bought this item and it worked. The screws don't fit my Explorer 01 which is very annoying. Installation was pretty easy, but after 7 months of installation I was under the car for maintenance and noticed the trunk was a mess. There is a worn patch around the boot and the ankle is fully exposed. If it weren't for the groove that the boot needs to be clamped into, I would think I did it wrong. Luckily I caught him in time I think to save the joint. The problem is that so far I haven't been…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • I don't like anything about it, everything is fine

Screws too short: Connections

Replacement was actually quite easy. Dirty but basic. I was happy to see that it came with spare screws. BUT they are about ¼ inch shorter! As I inserted them, I noticed that they only twisted a few turns. Since I have a "live axle" in front of me, if it were to loosen or come loose, it would literally destroy my truck and possibly the fat guy sitting right above that spinning shaft. I quickly reinstalled the original screws. On the other hand, it didn't get rid of the "ringing" my truck makes…

Fits 2000 Mercury Mountaineer V8.

Fits 2000 Mercury Mountaineer V8 with automatic transmission. There was an unfamiliar noise coming from under the car somewhere near the gearbox from time to time (it sounded like a hammer hitting a metal pipe when the car was moving forward). I didn't do it all the time but when I did it was scary (whole car shut down). I dragged it to the garage and started banging on various objects (hand/fist) to reproduce the sound. When I hit the driveshaft I heard it (faintly). There was SMALL play in…

  • Easy to use

But rubbish and without quality but.

The boot is junk and without a quality boot, the quality of the rest doesn't matter. I ordered the part on November 6th, 2013, it was installed in a few days. Now 10 months have passed and judging by the complaints of the customer (mother-in-law) the shoe has been torn for at least two months. This means that he served only 8 months. Dorman normally supplies quality components which I have no hesitation in purchasing and using in my cars, but this one is seriously wrong. Dorman is the only…

Good, but could be better

Significantly cheaper than the entire front drive axle. This kit eliminates the source of the problem - the CV joint on the back of the front shaft. The supplied screws were too short so make sure you reuse the original screws. It took 1.5 years to repair before I noticed a small 2cm cut on the rubber boot. Unfortunately by this point all the grease had come out, the connection was dirty and not in the best condition. Over time I've found that there are several warning signs that alert you that

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Lowest price around

I bought a Dorman CV joint kit for my Mercury Mountaineer from Revain because they were the cheapest. I called my local auto parts store and they told me I needed to replace the entire driveshaft. Spring. I didn't need the entire driveshaft so I went online and found this kit on another site. Now they were more expensive than Revain so I kept looking for the lowest price. Revain had it almost $50 less than the other side. There was also free shipping. How could you be wrong The product arrived…
