🪡 DraperyDIY Cord Lock: Secure 5 Cords with Ease for Roman and Austrian Shades (2/Pack) Review

No instructions I had to find out the installation direction on YouTube. Not a big fan of this for my roman shades which I made while contemplating installing a mandrel because if I lower it halfway no matter how hard I pull the cords towards the lock it just won't hold. This "Up or Down" cord lock is all or nothing, not the middle.

These cable locks didn't hold. Threading the cord into the cord lock can be a bit tricky and there are no pictures or instructions. Having done it once or twice I was sure I would continue. As I ran each cord, I checked to make sure they were correct. Only when the last cord was threaded in did it no longer close. A lot of wasted time and effort and hassle.

I don't sew at all, but I do a lot of building projects. We bought a house with quality curtains and curtains but for some reason they didn't have cord locks on the curtains and that drove me crazy. I managed to install one of these while the curtain was still hanging. It was a little tricky due to the angle and number of cables, but it would have been EASY if they had been installed at the time they were made. I'm really glad I can keep my shadows :)

Five (5) stars for quality especially with two brass gears as shown. Some other brands show two brass gears but use one brass and one plastic gear. Two (2) stars - there are no clear instructions on how to properly thread the 4 cords through the gears. Incorrect threading resulted in three attempts before the correct order was determined. the slot closest to the wall, which I found counterintuitive.

I was shocked when these little things actually worked as intended. My biggest criticism of them is that they came with no installation or usage instructions. It took me a while to study videos online to figure out how to thread the cords into the lock to make it work. It's not really that hard, but if you've never used it before, a guide would save a lot of time. As for the operation of the device, then once you figure it out, no complaints or questions.

I ordered two sets of two cord locks in one order. The seller sent me two completely different styles. One set has a flat bottom with two equal sized brass cylinders (one with teeth and one without) that act as a cord closure. However, the other pair has jagged stems, one stem is much larger than the other and the wire has a bend at the bottom. They work a little differently, which is extremely annoying. Reading other reviews it seems like other people have had some with plastic kegs. So bet…

Working. The ones I received both have brass barrels. I have used them in 5 cord roman blinds, 1.4mm cord, braided cord. So far no problems with slippage. Remember they work best when most lines make an S-shaped journey between barrels. This means that most of the line goes through the smaller fixed drum and then between the drums.
