Description of AMMCO14 00 High-performance Cobalt Drill Bit by Drill America

Cobalt steel tools are similar to high-speed steel, but with more cobalt for improved performance when cutting harder metals such as stainless steel or nickel alloys. Gold oxide is a thinner oxide surface treatment than black oxide typically used to identify cobalt steel tools; performance is similar to uncoated tools. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging. Manufactured to National Aerospace standard 907.

Worthless Junk good for me

After I put it to the test, this drill bit was a complete disappointment. It barely made a dent in the material I was trying to cut.

Pros
  • None.
Cons
  • Ineffective for any serious cutting needs.

Very bad drill on twist drill

I bought this to drill aluminum pipe and after 5 minutes of use the drill exploded in my face. I would not recommend this bit for anything other than drilling plastic!

Pros
  • twist drill
Cons
  • only available in white

Good for occasional work

I only needed this drill to install a cheap peephole camera in a steel door. It was sharp when I got it, but after I was halfway through the door it went downright faint. I had to regrind it to fit through the foam center of the door. Yes, I said foam. I used heavy duty lube and sharpened at low speed after drilling the center and I ended up with an oval hole. If it's a one-time job, then this beat will do. Technology, automotive, craftsmen? Don't waste money

Pros
  • Drill
Cons
  • Not sure
