Difficult to use but punches large holes in 3 layers of fabric.

Ideal for punching fabrics, it couldn't be easier. But it didn't seem to work to actually install the hub, so we went back to the old method and used a block of wood, the hardware that came with the hub, and a hammer. We just couldn't get the pliers to work to get the bushings in. Also, I didn't have the grip strength to work with pliers and my friend (male) did the job for me. I was hoping to do the whole process myself, but unfortunately I can't. So I don't think I would buy them again as…

Pros

Cons
  • Quality

Since my old Dritz Grommet "made in the USA" pliers don't cut holes well I figured I would would try a new pair. The new ones are made in China. Plastic handles (compared to metal handles) are an improvement. The hole cutting system is now a hole punch. The old system used a disk cutter versus a plastic anvil. Time will tell which is better. Case forming and cutting is now done with two separate bits held in place by plastic bushings. Obviously these heads will wear out to the point where they…

Quality should be better for the price

Considering they cost almost $1 a socket you would think they would be heavy duty. Unfortunately not. However, they're fairly flimsy and flimsy, which would be fine for certain projects, but at a different price point. In my opinion they would be worth what you get for maybe a third of the price. I'm a real consumer, I write real, free reviews. I take the time to review my buying experience because I find other honest reviews helpful and I'm sick of all the fake reviews on this site that make…

Pliers/Punch

Failed to load media. That does what I want. I needed lace holes on several dozen bags so I wanted something durable, fairly light and fast. I've used bushings many times in the past and found them to be a 'random' option, but when I find myself making mistakes trying to rush - parts don't align properly or don't have an equal/good one to exert pressure. I worked with 4-6 layers of cotton and punching was a problem at first. I even tried piercing the skin (didn't work). After a few tries I…

I have never been disappointed with any of my Dritz eyelets.

I did a little research to find well made jacks at a reasonable price and found that Dritz makes a well made product at a pretty reasonable price. Tried buying in bulk but it was a disaster with terrible quality bushings that were much thinner and smaller than the Dritz. Being able to buy 8 pieces in one pack is great. The color of the antique brass matches other antique brass products from different manufacturers. One thing to watch out for is not to put in more than one puck at a time. The…
