Great tracking system but you need some tools to set it up

I built the tracking system out of metal rods, skate wheels and various other parts and it worked great until I took it out into the wild . I ended up giving it up because it was hard to pack up and take backcountry. Fast forward to today when I got this system and set it up with a drill press and it works great. The slider works great with my 1RPM motor for stable and smooth tracking. If you have the tools, you can create an amazing tracking system. You will need a drill press to make a…

Versatile, inexpensive and durable.

I got mine almost a year ago and am very happy with it so far. I recommend using two tripods on the ends for better stability when using heavier cameras or when using cameras with accessories mounted on them. That's my attitude. I got a pair of Targus TG-P60T Black Label Professional 3 Way Panhead Level Pro Series 60" tripods for $40 each. These tripods work great with this slider. Tripods have a detachable head that attaches to a 3/8 screw on the tripod. Basically, you can press the two holes…

It is what it is. good for camera and photo

I would say it's a mediocre product. Of all the low budget camera sliders, this is probably the best quality/quantity ratio. The arm is solid aluminum and it wasn't until I put pink buttocks on it that I could actually get it to flex, unlike other cheap sliders that only flex under their own weight. That it is somewhat heavy (or rather clumsy) is forgivable. I don't even know if it has a maximum carrying capacity. My camera weighs about 6-7 pounds, plus the tripod head, and I haven't noticed…

Amazing what it is

I rarely use this slider in my small film company. It's great to have an inexpensive, very durable item like this to add a bit of variety and production value on the fly. It's not a complete solution to the more expensive *real* sliders on the market (and definitely not a complete cart or boom); however, it does a great job. For those who want to incorporate slider shots into their work, are experimenting or think they will only use this type of shot occasionally, this is without a doubt the…

A great solution for a self-made slider

Please note that you need a little work for the installation. The holes in the rails are drilled but not tapped. You must use a 3/8"-16 tap to mount it on a regular tripod (you unscrew and screw on the tripod head if your head doesn't have a 3/8" mount). You also need to create a camera mount. It's easiest to use a 3/8" screw and screw the tripod head you just removed onto the carriage, but this requires drilling a hole in the carriage. Remove the drylin bearings and keep them far, far away…

Great slider for DSLR

I use it with GH2. The Manfrotto 501 HDV mounted on the slider, the tripod attached under the rails and the system works great for both slider movement and panning. Tilt is a minor issue. When I try to lean up, the friction on the back rail increases, and when I lean down, there is pressure on the front rail. I have to manually push with the hand moving the slider to compensate and get smooth movement. It works great, but it's hard to figure out. Moving back and forth is easier than tilting…
