NOT new as advertised and dirty.

The product is listed as new. It's not like this. The bag with the item was torn open, and there were even foreign objects in it. I plan to use it as a liquid filter medium. This is unacceptable.

Drinking water pre-filter for travel

I use a 6" x 6" square of this material as a water pre-filter for hiking when I have to get my drinking water from polluted sources. 0.5 micron is small enough to filter out sediment and a good percentage of soluble clay that makes the water cloudy. I use this sheet to pre-filter before running my drinking water through a Sawyer Squeeze. This saves the Sawyer from premature clogging and repeated backwashing. Works very well, but can cause bottlenecks!

I "collect” rainwater for cooking and drinking. Thus, strictly speaking, it is a time-saving operation. I go through several stages of filtration to avoid clogging the filters. First through a 25 micron Duda filter (fits a 5 gallon bucket), then through a 1 micron "sock", then this 0.5 micron flat sheet cut so that it fits in the filter that fits over the bucket. Then filtered through Lifestraw "Family 1.0" and finally through the standard Brita filter. For direct drinking and cold drinks I use
