The package will not fall into the bin as it is a precise slide from the scoop right into the bin. It's just the right size for sorting out the good stuff and throwing away the rest without slipping. This is the shovel I've always wanted! I love it. As others have said you will need to drill holes in the valve. No clumping filler waste. I use it with the diaper pail decor. The opening is large enough to open the bucket. Every morning I clean two litter boxes for my 3 cats and keep track of the time. This takes 2 minutes or less. I recently bought a UBBI diaper pail to dispose of the rubbish (a fantastic solution compared to Genie litter as you can use regular bin liners) and the hole is at the top too small for my usual cat litter scoop.
