💾 Enhance Storage Capacity with DY-tech 2nd HDD SSD Hard Drive Enclosure Caddy for Lenovo Thinkpad T440p T540p t540 w540 W540p W541 Review

Ordered to install an additional hard drive in the optical bay (obviously). Just installed, works great so far. The built-in drive was recognized immediately. I will update this review if I run into any issues but so far I am very happy with this purchase.

This product is solidly built, well designed and fits in well thanks to the old Lenovo T440p to replace the DVD player. Unfortunately, I've found that my old hard drive is (and always was) a battery hog. Looks like I'm saving to another SSD.

I only have two editions, but probably no different than the others. After installing it in my Thinkpad running Windows 10, I lost the ability to go to sleep. Another problem is probably related to Windows 10: Hard drive becomes unavailable after waking from hibernation. I didn't have this problem with Windows 7. Currently my primary drive is an SSD, but I can't imagine that being part of the problem. However, it is worth installing it.

The DY-tech HDD cart was shipped from South Korea so it took longer than usual to arrive, but it was well packaged and worked right out of the box (no box, just bubble wrap). I installed the 500GB hard drive that came with the T440p and it was up and running in minutes. Some people have trouble installing screws. They should fit all the way in and you should be able to see the screw through the same vertical screw hole on the bottom of the hard drive. I have attached photos for clarification…

I'm not sure if this is a product issue or if I'm missing some drivers, but about half the time I boot up my T440p the disc won't light up. When I restart it comes on again. Once it lights up, it shows up on my devices and is fully usable as long as my laptop stays on. Any help or advice would be great if this was the case for you!
