This air quality monitor is amazing!

Want to be a nerd? This tool will make you a nerd! it's so cool Bought primarily to check the air quality in my room with the air cleaning fans running (Germ Guardian and a homemade Vornado with a 12" MERV13 filter on the back). results, they work. I don't know how accurate they are, but they work. Work. Battery Mod: I bought a 5v to 9v DC boost cable to connect to my power bank/bank and it works great. I plan to do some outdoor testing for cycling. UPDATE 10/14/16. . I wake up pretty refreshed

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

I have mixed feelings about this device. It came out 10 years ago and to be honest I expected it to evolve but it didn't happen. You open the box and there is a wart on the wall. Not the ones that came with the product in the last 10 years, but these heavy analog transformer models. For $260, couldn't they have negotiated a more energy efficient transformer? So you turn it on and the display shows two numbers and this bar that seems to bounce every second or two. There are no markers to tell…

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Very expensive

Unreliable, fragile and expensive

I bought this machine based on reviews and learned about some of its limitations beforehand (from other air quality blogs/sites). Some important points to keep in mind: - Measures all types of particles, including water particles. Showering, boiling water, cooking, etc. increase the amount of particles. - No VOC gas detector (like some others on the market. Ideally a built in particle counter with a VOC gas detector) - No smart app or any way to upload data (unless you spend a lot more money on

Pros
  • One-year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only
